Wake Forest Demon Deacons: Who starts at quarterback for Wake Forest?

Hats off to Wake Forest Demon Deacons head coach Dave Clawson for getting his ACC Atlantic program to a bowl game last fall. The 2016 Demon Deacons went 7-6 (3-5) and won the Military Bowl over AAC Champion Temple.

Playing in the ACC Atlantic is always tough sledding against teams like Clemson, Florida State, and Louisville. It’s not like Wake Forest is ready to beat teams like that in ACC play, but the Demon Deacons can hang with everybody else in the conference.

One thing to really get excited about with Wake Forest football is the quarterback competition that is sure to continue into fall practice: Kendall Hinton versus John Wolford. Hinton provides a dual-threat explosiveness that the Wake Forest offense just doesn’t have otherwise. Wolford has been the starter the last few years, but has proven to be little more than a game manager in Winston-Salem.

Hinton actually won the starting job over Wolford last fall, but an early injury ruined Hinton’s season before it even started. Either way, the winner of this quarterback competition is clearly Clawson and the Wake Forest football program.
