The biggest knock on the record holder for the fastest 40 time is his injury history. His agent puts these doubts to bed.

The 2017 NFL Draft is approaching quickly and rumors are swirling about Washington’s dynamic playmaker John Ross.

Ross, as everyone should know by now, set the record for the fastest 40-time ever recorded in NFL Combine history (4.22 seconds). The biggest concern about Ross has been his laundry list of injuries he’s suffered in college.

NFL Network’s draft analyst Mike Mayock reported today that teams aren’t even considering Ross anymore because of his durability issues.

"“There are some teams that have pushed him either down their boards or off their boards because of injuries,” Mayock said. “He’s had surgery on his shoulder, he’s had surgery on both knees, and he’s got a small frame. So the durability is a big issue with him right now.”"

Ross’ agent Brad Cicala took issue with these reports and issued a statement regarding his client’s medicals.

"“Despite recent reports, John Ross III has never sustained two ACL injury’s nor has he had two ACL surgeries. In January of 2015 he endured surgery on his right lateral meniscus and in April of 2015 he had surgery on his left ACL,” Cicala said."

Cicala also pointed out the injury Ross suffered to his right labrum during the fifth game of the season versus Stanford but pointed out how Ross was still able to finish the season despite the injury.

This injury was the reason for Ross’ surgery immediately after the combine, according to Cicala, but he also mentions that teams are comfortable with his client’s health.

"“A recent report from his doctor, Dr. Albert Gee, Divison Chief from the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine from the University of Washington, states that John’s recovery is ahead of schedule and he will be fully healthy by the start of NFL camp. I have confirmed with numerous NFL teams that John’s recent medical rechecks have come back positive.”"

Cicala is clearly defending Ross after reports his injury history could see him slide into Round 2 of the draft.
