Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp doesn’t think Myles Garrett should be the top pick in the NFL Draft.

Warren Sapp is usually a very outspoken guy and he didn’t hold back when he came to critiquing top NFL Draft prospect Myles Garrett. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Sapp has disagreed with many in regards to Garrett going number one overall in the upcoming NFL draft.

Sapp defended his statements by saying how he doesn’t believe Garrett has done enough on tape to solidify himself as the bonafide top selection in the NFL draft. Sapp said, “Where’s the game he took over? Where? I watch the tape and he disappears. I watch the tape and he absolutely disappears.”

Sapp also explained he believes Garrett is getting all of this hype because of his measurables, not necessarily on his actual talent. Sapp said he is big and fast, and scouts have just been focusing on that rather than the big picture. Players are often drafted on their potential based on their athletic traits and measurables, so this isn’t anything new. Many people believe Garrett will be the first selection taken in the NFL draft, regardless of what Sapp has said.

In FanSided’s latest mock draft, the Browns select Garrett with the first pick because they have “struggled on defense for the last decade-plus, and he is just the kind of player need to upgrade the unit.” Garrett certainly fits the bill for a player who could help their defensive line right away. His ability to wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines and cause double-teams is something the Browns have sorely missed on their defense over the years.
