The Buccaneers should be taking a leap this year. Jameis Winston looked much-improved from 2015 to 2016, and now has improved weapons around him with the release of Vincent Jackson and the signing DeSean Jackson. Factor in a maturing offensive line, the second year of head coach Dirk Koetter and a young defense, and Tampa Bay could realistically be a challenger in the NFC South. To get into the playoffs for the first time this decade, general manager Jason Licht has to continue infusing talent into the defense.
Jabrill Peppers has been discussed endlessly throughout the draft process. Peppers, who starred for Michigan over two years, showcasing incredibly versatility. Look for Tampa Bay to use Peppers as a safety, filing the void left by Bradley McDougald. The New Jersey native should thrive in the role of “lrker and “robber” in Mike Smith’s defense, able to cover both running backs and tight ends in a man-to-man situation as well. Additionally, the Buccaneers get a dynamic return man. There is no denying that Peppers is a wild card, but the upside is absurd for an athlete of this magnitude.
