Marshawn Lynch will wear No. 24 with Oakland Raiders

Charles Woodson is doing Marshawn Lynch a solid by approving of him sporting his famous No. 24 with the Raiders
After much speculation throughout the past few weeks, the seemingly inevitable happened on Wednesday, as the Oakland Raiders announced they officially acquired running back Marshawn Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks. Lynch took the year off from football last season, but now he is returning to the NFL to roam the backfield for his hometown team, something that had to have been a dream of his at some point.
Following the signing of Lynch, there were still some questions that people wanted answered. Obviously, one of those questions was whether or not, as a Raider, Lynch would continue to sport the No. 24. As any football fan out there knows, when it comes to the Raiders and the No. 24, that is associated with one man and one man only — future Hall of Fame defensive back Charles Woodson.
Well, it didn’t take long for us to get an answer to that question. Michael Gehlken, who covers the Raiders for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, announced on Twitter that Lynch’s mother had revealed that Woodson was kind enough to give his blessing to “Beast Mode” to keep bursting through defenders while wearing his No. 24.
The Raiders have yet to retire the number of Woodson since he left the game, so technically some could point to the fact that he didn’t have much of a say in the matter. Still, you have to believe that Lynch reached out to Woodson, one of the all-time great Raiders, prior to securing the number, which would have been a class move. To that point, it was an equally classy move for Woodson to give the go ahead on the assignment.

So yes, for those wondering, Lynch will still be wearing that No. 24 when he returns to the field as a member of the Raiders this coming fall.
