In his first postseason game of 2017, Nashville Predators forward Colin Wilson scored his first goal of the playoffs.

The Nashville Predators ended their first round series against the Chicago Blackhawks quickly in four games. Part of the potential benefit of finishing your series early is getting injured players back. The Predators got back playoff hero Colin Wilson, who has been huge for them in the past two postseasons. With 10 goals in his last 20 postseason games entering Wednesday’s game, it was only a matter of time before he scored. Wilson made his impact known immediately by deflecting home a P.K. Subban power play slap shot.

This gives Wilson 11 goals in his last 21 postseason games. Back in the 2014-15 season, he had five goals in six games against the Blackhawks. Last year, Wilson had five goals and eight assists for 13 points. He continues to get dirty around the crease and is willing to get his stick involved on shots on goal.

During the regular season, Wilson set a career high with 23 assists. He also put up 12 goals and 35 points. It’s a bit of a down year for Wilson, but he’s always been a big game player. He tends to shine in the postseason when goals are hard to come by. The Predators needed a strong start, but weren’t able to get one. However, Wilson’s goal gives them some momentum and puts the Blues behind the eight ball early.

Subban sets up his goal with a very nice shot. Wilson deflects it in. It likely wouldn’t have gone in had it not been for the deflection. The Blues left Wilson alone in the crease for a few seconds and they paid dearly. Nashville will need more goals like this from him in order to pull off their second upset of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
