2017 NFL Mock Draft: Defense rules the day
By Brad Weiss
For the Tennessee Titans, the time is now for them to become a perennial playoff contender. The only reason they are picking in the top-5 tonight is thanks to a trade they made with the Los Angeles Rams prior to the 2016 NFL Draft. That top pick was Jared Goff, who struggled to get playing time as a rookie, and the Titans have to be happy with the decision they made to trade that pick.
This offseason, the Titans revamped their secondary, signing star cornerback Logan Ryan away from the New England Patriots. The Titans also said goodbye to Jason McCourty, who was a mainstay in their secondary for the last five seasons. They need someone who is going to play on the other side of the ball, and Marshon Lattimore is the best cornerback prospect in this draft class.
Lattimore is an incredible talent at corner, and should be able to shut down one side of the field at the next level. The Titans have the talent on their roster to do some special things next season, and we feel they will unseat the Houston Texans as the class of the AFC South. The offense is set with Marcus Mariota at quarterback, and with a tandem of Ryan and Lattimore at corner, they should be able to shut down the opposing quarterback on a weekly basis.
