Per Ian Rapoport, the Jets have been making calls regarding a potential trade of DL Sheldon Richardson.

In a first round for the ages that included multiple trades, the Cleveland Browns with three first round picks, and three QBs going in the top 12, the Jets may be the next team to make some moves.

Since last year, it has been rumored that the Jets were shopping their fourth year man in Sheldon Richardson. The Jets, presumably looking for a QB to end the revolving door of Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick, could be shopping Richardson in an attempt to trade up in the second round. The Jets could possibly be eyeing Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer or even the rising Davis Webb out of Cal.

As Rapoport said, the Jets will not just give him away to anyone who asks. Well, that would be what is expected when dealing with a player of Richardson’s caliber. The Jets should get a sizable return for the former Defensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler.

The Jets are one of the teams calling the Packers regarding a trade up to the firtst pick in the third round. They currently own the 39th pick and may be worried that their target will not make it to them at that position. With how aggressive teams were in the first round when targeting QBs, it would not be a surprise to see the Jets do something similar tonight.

The Jets are actively looking to trade one of their prized pieces on the defensive side of the ball in the hopes of finding an answer for turning the franchise around. Whether they believe that is a QB, or maybe even a RB like Cook or Mixon, the Jets are generating chatter on the trade block. Hopefully this move won’t turn out even more catastrophic for an already reeling franchise.
