2017 NFL Draft: New York Giants final draft grade
The Giants added Damon Harrison last offseason and it was one of the most underrated moves of the offseason and proved true throughout the season. Then, the team lost his sidekick and teammate Johnathan Hankins to the Colts this offseason.
There was little to no interest from the Giants regarding Hankins this offseason and it could certainly because they had their eyes on Tomlinson. Robert Thomas is currently the starter on the depth chart and there is no way they were not going to address this position at some point. Tomlinson is a multi-sport athlete and a smart kid who chose Alabama to play football over a scholarship to Harvard.
Tomlinson has had multiple knee surgeries, which has him down this far. However, he was healthy last season and on tape, he is a stud. He does not do much in the pass rusher, but he understands leverage and wins by taking up space. Tomlinson should come in and be an instant starter. Next, to Damon Harrison they have to run cloggers, and guys who can demand double teams that open things up for the Giants talented pass rush. This hit a need was a fit and is a great selection in round two.
