Saquon Barkley

RB, Penn State

Heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, many believed the Detroit Lions would spend at least a second round pick on bringing in a running back. Instead, the Lions drafted two defensive players in the first two rounds, as they looked to bolster a defense that was shredded by the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs last season. The Lions got really hot during the middle of the season, going 8-1 at one point, but they will likely come back to Earth in 2017.

With their top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Lions need to bring in a franchise running back. They have had to rely on Matthew Stafford for too long, and you have to wonder how many more years he can throw the ball 40 times a game. Bringing in a legitimate running back will do wonders for this offense, which has had no problems scoring points despite the fact they are very one-dimensional.

Saquon Barkley has been a stud every since his freshman season at Penn State, and should be the first running back off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft. Barkley can do it all as a running back, while also possessing the ability to make plays happen in the passing game. He would be a perfect fit in Detroit, and the fans in Michigan have certainly seen enough of him playing against Michigan State and Michigan in the Big Ten.
