Arden Key

DE, LSU

Of all the teams in the NFL who picked early in the first round on Thursday, the Chicago Bears have to be the one that had people scratching their heads. Holding the No. 3 pick in the draft, the Bears could have easily sat on the pick and selected North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, but instead traded up one spot to grab him at No. 2. It is very unlikely Trubisky was going to be drafted by the 49ers, so the Bears basically threw away three draft picks by making the move for Trubisky.

After the first round was over, the Bears continued to make questionable picks, selecting Division II tight end Adam Shaheen from Ashland College, and then running back Tarik Cohen from FCS North Carolina A&T in the fourth round. They have to do better in 2018, and with their current roster, they most definitely will be picking towards the top of the draft once again next April.

One player who looks like a can’t-miss guy is Arden Key, an incredible defensive end from LSU. Key shocked LSU fans when it was announced he would be stepping away from the program for “personal reasons,” but he has let people know he will certainly be on the field in 2017. Key set a school record with 12 sacks last season, earning second-team All-SEC honors for his efforts. The Bears need help on defense, and Key would be a nice building block for the future.
