DraftKings NBA Picks May 5

We have two more conference semifinals for our DraftKings tournament tonight. The series shifts to Toronto and Houston respectively. Will that affect the outcome? Injuries have opened up some value here. Can we capitalize on it?

More from DFS

Yesterday the money line held pretty steady at 246.5. I missed it by about three points, which could have been alleviated had Isaiah Thomas scored more than say, Shelvin Mack.

The winning lineups were way up at 331. The two winners were 10.75 points ahead of third place! They got value on Mack, and had faith in Gordon Hayward despite his history of struggling against the Warriors. The 38 DraftKings points from 6.9% owned Bojan Bogdanovic put them over the top.

PG: Patrick Beverley ($4,900): I’m shifting the focus to the Houston-San Antonio game because of the blowout potential attached to the Cleveland series. Beverley keeps producing between 20 and 30 DraftKings points per game. He isn’t quite the beast that he was early on in the Oklahoma City series, but he is still a solid producer. On smaller slates, that can make all the difference. This plays a lot more like a cash game this time of year.

SG: Cory Joseph ($3,700): It is looking more and more likely that Kyle Lowry will not be able to play in Game 3. If that is the case, Joseph will be a great value tonight. Those savvy enough to gamble on him in Game 2 got paid off big time. Joseph will be more of a chalk play this time around, but I need the salary relief.

G: Patty Mills ($4,400): The Spurs are going to have to make the rest of this playoff run without the services of Tony Parker. That means Mills, Manu, and Dejounte Murray will all pick up more minutes. It would seem as though Mills would get first crack at the vacancy, so I am rolling with him tonight. That said, if Murray gets a large enough role, I will go with him in Game 4. Murray has more upside.

UTIL: Manu Ginobili ($3,800): Ginobili has been a very solid bench scorer in this series. He will have to take on an even larger role now with Tony Parker out. Don’t expect huge games from him, but Manu should have no issues hitting 6x value or better.

May 3, 2017; San Antonio, TX, USA; San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard (2) shoots the ball as Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden (13) defends during the first half in game two of the second round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs at AT&T Center. SF: LeBron James ($12,400): LeBron has been extraordinary since the start of the playoffs. That wont change here. Toronto still can’t stop him. They are just trying to slow down the other four planets that orbit him. That means LeBron is still a must-play. Get him in there!

PF: Ryan Anderson ($4,800): Anderson has been huge so far in the series against the Spurs after being mostly quiet in the first round. He has put up 65.5 DraftKings points in the first two games of this series after netting 78 DraftKings points in all five first round games combined! I like Anderson to keep up the strong play here.

F: Kawhi Leonard ($10,800): With Tony Parker now out, Kawhi is literally all the Spurs have. He is getting very little help from LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol up front. That will need to change if the Spurs are to advance, but they have the disadvantage of having to figure all of this out while heading to Houston. Leonard will continue to be the offense. Will he get any help?

C: Clint Capela ($5,100): Tristan Thompson is still a very good play, but Capela is cheaper and is producing about the same number of points. He also has more upside than Thompson does. Capela is still only playing about 25 minutes per game, but he has three straight games or more than 26 DraftKings points. I’ll take it!
