The rumor mill spoke the truth yesterday about the possibility of Jay Cutler’s career in broadcasting.

Jay Cutler’s career as an NFL quarterback could be coming to an end shortly. Since being cut by the Chicago Bears, Cutler’s had a hard time finding a new home to showcase his arm. But seeing as how his life is currently working out, he isn’t too fazed by the idea of retirement. And today, Cutler has possibly hinted at that decision by joining FOX Sports as a broadcaster, according to Peter Schrager.

While FOX Sports has loaded roster of broadcasters already, such as ex-NFL quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn, the addition of Cutler is predicted by some as a solid move. Cutler, however, won’t be pairing up with either of those two. Instead, as Schrager further pointed out, Cutler will huddle up with Charles Davis, a veteran of coverage on the NFL Network, and Kevin Burkhardt. The latter has been known as the “one-time car salesman” and an MLB analyst for the same studio.

Cutler also released a statement and debates the term retire.

By signing onto FOX Sports, Jay Cutler faces his upcoming rookie season in broadcasting with Tony Romo. Romo, being three years older than Cutler, called it quits earlier this year and he, too, was persuaded enough by FOX Sports. With these two hires, the studio further cements itself as a contender in terms of NFL coverage. The plan, of course, is to give the game that authentic feel. And who better to hear analysis from than former NFL players.

Since Cutler is now with FOX Sports, it shines a light on a possible retirement. If that’s the case, then Cutler finishes his career with some records. Currently, he ranks second in single season pass touchdowns (28) behind Erik Kramer (29). The two are also spotted together in terms of single season pass yards, but, yet again, Kramer took over first place (3,838 to Cutler’s 3,812). Numbers aside, Cutler seems to be at peace with his life, his wife and three kids. By grabbing at this opportunity, it leaves him with security and more topless vacations.
