Bettors who correctly hit on a Superfecta at the 2017 Kentucky Oaks will be taking home some major coin.

With a surprise winner and a few longshots near the top of the finishing order, exotic bets at the 2017 Kentucky Oaks featured some huge payouts.

One of the most popular exotic bets at every huge horse racing event is the Superfecta, which requires bettors to correctly pick the top four finishers in a given race. As a few Kentucky Oaks horses like Paradise Woods (6/5 odds), Farrell (5/1), Miss Sky Warrior (6/1) and Salty (8/1) separated themselves from the field, a Superfecta looked like a tempting bet on Friday evening at Churchill Downs.

None of those horses finished in the top four, ensuring a massive payout for hitting on a Superfecta. Bettors who correctly picked the top four of Abel Tasman-Daddy’s Lil Darling-Lockdown-Vexatious earned a $85,555.10 payout on a $1 dollar bet.

The favorites dominated early, as Miss Sky Warrior and Paradise Woods battled it out well ahead of the pack with a fast pace on a sloppy track. After running last in the early going, Abel Tasman (9/1)  raced past the field in the stretch run to win, with Daddy’s Lil Darling (12/1) claiming second.

Friday’s huge Superfecta payout was due to the third place finishers, as Lockdown and Vexatious were huge longshots at 37/1 and 36/1 respectively. Paradise Woods fell to 11th by the end of the race, while Farrell finished in last.
