After a disappointing season for the Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis skipped the team’s exit meeting, and some teams reportedly tried to take advantage.

According to a report from ESPN, some NBA teams attempted to cash in on an upset Kristaps Porzingis after his season with a lackluster New York Knicks team.

The team’s star center was evidently disappointed with the team this season, as the Knicks went 31-51 in 2016-17. Porzingis then skipped a meeting last month after the season wrapped up with Knicks President Phil Jackson and the team’s general manager Steve Mills. The frustration and eventual skipping of the meeting came because of the team’s apparent dysfunction and the drama that they faced, specifically with the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors.

According to Ian Begley’s report, several teams had asked the Knicks about trading for the 21-year-old center, but it’s unknown whether or not any of the talks actually made any progress.

Porzingis, at 7-foot-3, has 2,224 career points, along with 1,001 rebounds, and averages 16 points a game for the Knicks. In Porzingis’ first two seasons in the league, the Knicks went a combined 63-101, with a 32-50 year in his rookie season.

Obviously it would take a large sum for anyone to pry the Latvian product away from the Knicks organization, but it’s unknown where the center’s interests lie right now. He has stated in the past that he likes playing in New York, but ultimately wants to win, and that simply isn’t happening with the Knicks.

Porzingis is about to enter the third year of his four-year rookie contract, so his only chance of leaving New York anytime soon would be in a trade or a release. At the rate this drama is going, we could be seeing a Porzingis trade away from the Knicks at some point before his contract runs out.
