9. Kobe Bryant over Steve Nash

Two of the best guards to ever play the game. One winner.

Now, no analysis of this epic jam is complete without paying homage to Lamar Odom. Without Odom’s relentless effort to recover the loose ball, Shawn Marion would’ve likely picked it up and the Black Mamba would’ve never given us one of the most memorable dunks in recent memory.

Odom threw a desperation pass from the floor to the incoming Kobe Bryant, who hauled in the pass and sprung up. Unfortunately for Steve Nash, the two-time defending MVP was in the middle of the Mamba’s path.

Nash scurried to attempt to draw a charge, but it was too late. Bryant was already airborne by the time Nash even had his feet set. Bryant threw down a ferocious right-handed slam over Nash and earned himself a free throw at Nash’s expense.

To make matters even worse, Bryant hung onto the rim during the finish, towering over the man with whom he’d been feuding with all game. At that moment, Bryant reminded us all to not turn away for a second because Mambas can strike at the blink of an eye.
