Predicting where top 5 uncommitted 2018 college football QB commits will land
2. Justin Rogers
Many of the top quarterbacks who remain uncommitted have one thing in common: the majority of them are dual-threat players. Justin Rogers is the next great player to fit that mold.
Rogers is from Parkway High Schools in Bossier City, Louisiana. He is a four-star recruit who is the No. 100 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in the nation.
There are so many teams after Rogers in the recruiting game. He currently has 27 scholarship offers and the teams range from low-level Division I programs to top schools like LSU. He made his recruitment simpler, though, by deciding to cut his list down to just three programs.
When Rogers makes his commitment on May 31, he will be deciding between LSU, TCU and North Carolina. These three programs have won his heart over and now they are all vying for his pledge here in a few weeks.
Looking at where Rogers is located — Bossier City, Louisiana — the nod would have to go to LSU on the location factor. He could play close to home and have his family and friends watch him dominate the college football landscape.
When it comes to team success, LSU takes the nod again with their history of winning. North Carolina hasn’t been historically great and TCU has been good as of late. LSU is always there in the SEC and that has to be attractive.
Quarterback development has to come into play as well. This is where the Tar Heels might have some clout. Neither LSU nor TCU have put much in the way of quarterback talent into the NFL. North Carolina just had Mitch Trubisky selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft after only starting 13 games in his career. That said, the nod goes to the Tar Heels in quarterback development.
Overall, though, LSU may be the eventual landing spot for Rogers. One of the few weak points LSU has had in the last decade has been the quarterback position. He could come in and be a hero as he leads the Tigers on a potential national title run.
