Madden 18 reveals Tom Brady as cover athlete in first trailer

Madden 18 revealed Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady as its latest cover boy.
Strap in and get ready for Madden season, G.O.A.T.-style. EA announced the cover athlete for this year’s game will be New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who surprisingly is landing his first ever cover in the franchise’s history.
“The Madden NFL 18 cover is a great honor for me,” said Brady in a press release. “Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I’m not one to believe in curses, so I’m ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn’t stand a chance!”
Alright, calm down Tom.
You can’t blame the guy for being hyped about adding his name to the list of athletes to don the cover of football’s most iconic video game. There’s a certain prestige that comes with being a Madden over athlete and Brady fits the bill. It also marks the second consecutive year that a Patriots player graced the cover, with Rob Gronkowski seeing as last year’s cover boy.
This is also a total power play by Brady. He’s not in this for the $200,000 a cover athlete gets. He’s in this for the ‘G.O.A.T.’ edition, something that has never happened before.
Here’s the full trailer for the game:
In years past, Madden has been able to step their game up in big ways to make the video game experience as realistic as possible. This has often times come at the sacrifice of deeper game modes like Franchise Mode and Owner Mode. Last year saw improvements to both mods and it now seems like everything is on the table for the ‘G.O.A.T.’ edition of the game.
Madden 18 hits shelves on August 25th.
