What is the runtime for Alien: Covenant and how does it compare to the length of the other films for the franchise?

With Alien: Covenant arriving to theaters this week, it’s yet another blockbuster film hitting the screen. It also means yet another big film that will have an extended runtime and will make sure to pack in as much content as possible.

While for some it may be a test to their patience and bladders, Alien: Covenant will have a runtime of 123 minutes. In terms of runtime, this is standard for a major release and it falls in line with the other films in the series.

The film that takes place before this, Prometheus, had a runtime of 124 minutes. The original Alien, which this serves as a prequel to, had a runtime of 117 minutes total. So that means that this film will be directly on pace with the others in the series.

Having been five years since the last film, this will be the one to tie up the loose ends and will help continue to complete the bridge between Prometheus and Alien. The last film ended with the classic alien creature bursting out of the chest of one of the “Engineers” and ended any speculation about whether or not the prequel would directly tie into the series.

After the slow buildup of the last film, fans should expect plenty more of the creature in this one and a more developed form of it. After all, the title is appropriately named. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and others.
