The Philadelphia 76ers receiver the Los Angeles Lakers pick in the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery if it’s outside of the top three, and they’re trolling LA about it

Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers fans are most certainly familiar with what’s at stake in the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery. Both teams are currently basement-dwellars in the NBA standings. However, both teams also have hopes of changing that with the 2017 draft. The way the ping pong balls fall in the draft, though, could determine how likely that is for either team.

As was the case last year for the Lakers and Sixers, Philadelphia will get LA’s pick if it falls outside of the top three. The Lakers have the third best odds to get the No. 1 overall pick. However, that also puts them right on the cusp of losing their pick. In fact, the odds are better that they lose the pick than if they earn a top-three selection.

Just to remind their fans of what’s at stake in the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery, the Lakers team Twitter account sent out the odds that spelled out the situation at hand:

Embodying the spirit of the their NBA Draft Lottery representative, Joel Embiid, the Sixers then got a bit savage on the Lakers as they responded with a simple emoji:

Has the most simple smiley face emoji been that savage? My guess would be know, but you know that every Lakers fan seeing it was filled with rage at the sight. How dare they mock our 46.9 percent chance of keeping our pick?!

It’s always great to see stakes this high for teams at the NBA Draft Lottery, though. It adds to the drama of it all, especially with the personalities involved with two historically great franchises. After all, Embiid is representing the 76ers while Magic Johnson is in New York for the Lakers. Who wants to bet Embiid will send Magic an emoji if the Sixers get the pick? I’d put the odds at -5,000.
