Cristiano Ronaldo has set yet another goalscoring record. With his goal in the first half against Celta Vigo, he now has more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than any other player.

It’s safe to say Cristiano Ronaldo will go down as one of the best goalscorers in the history of soccer. Ronaldo has further cemented his place among the best by breaking another goalscoring record on Tuesday.

With his goal in the first half against Celta Vigo, he moved passed Jimmy Greaves for sole possession of the record. Ronaldo now has 368 goals in Europe’s top five leagues during his brilliant career.

The goalscoring record of 32-year-old Ronaldo is nothing short of something you would see on your PlayStation playing FIFA. Since the 2009-10 season, Ronaldo has made 263 appearances in La Liga for Real Madrid. During those appearances he has amassed a whopping 284 goals of his 368 total.

Before arriving in Madrid, Ronaldo started this eventual record-breaking goalscoring run with Manchester United in the Premier League. In 196 league appearances for the Red Devils, Ronaldo scored his first 84 goals in Europe’s top five leagues. This includes the 2007-08 season when Ronaldo scored 31 goals.

The 31-goal season that Ronaldo had for Manchester United in 2007-08 stands as a record high for the club in a 38-game season. Amazing stuff when you consider he was competing with the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy and many other prolific scorers over the years of Manchester United.

Despite his relative drop off this season, with only 24 goals so far over 28 appearances, he is still one of the top scorers in La Liga. It would be a safe bet to say that, with a few more good years left in his record-breaking boots, Ronaldo could eventually see that number approaching somewhere near the 500-goal mark.
