The UK’s independent pro wrestling scene must be flush with cash, as one promotion reportedly offered CM Punk $1 million to return to the squared circle

CM Punk hasn’t been quite the star in the UFC that he once was in the WWE. When you put up a first-round submission loss to a mid-level up-and-comer in the Octagon next to a 434-day title reign, it doesn’t really compare. Yet, Punk (real name, Phil Brooks) has continued to pursue mixed martial arts, comic books and various other ventures outside of professional wrestling.

Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped wrestling fans from wanting him back in the squared circle. You’d be hard-pressed to watch a WWE show of any kind without hearing at least one CM Punk chant — and he’s been gone for three years now. What’s more, you’d also have a difficult time finding someone without fond memories of Punk in wrestling. Apparently that includes some wrestling promoters.

According to The Sun, an independent promotion in the United Kingdom has been after CM Punk for some time. And they’re willing to pony-up to try and get him. The UK-based 5 Star Wrestling has reportedly offered him $1 million for a one-off at one of their shows. $1 million for one night’s work.

5 Star Wrestling wants Punk to compete in a huge tournament that the promotion is set to hold in June. The tournament will feature 128 wrestlers and will be held in Liverpool, England starting on June 10. Once again, they want to pay CM Punk $1 million to be 1-of-128 men in this tournament. It’s been three full years since he’s been a wrestling ring and he still might be one of the five most over performers in pro wrestling.

If the offer is legitimate, it’d obviously be close to impossible for Punk to turn it down. Then again, he’s always said to be a man of principle, so maybe he would to stick to his MMA guns. Either way, you can rest assured that the wrestling world will all be watching if he indeed does show up in Liverpool on June 10.
