Bills Get
Tight End Clive Walford
Raiders Get
2018 5th Round Pick

The Buffalo Bills will head into the 2017 NFL season with not only a new head coach, but also a new general manager, as Doug Whaley and his scouts were fired after the draft. New general manager Brandon Beane will be tasked with trying to get this team back to the playoffs since the late-1990s, and he needs all the help he can get. One area of need on this team is tight end, and the Oakland Raiders have a couple of players at the position they can afford to lose.

This offseason, the Raiders brought in Jared Cook from Green Bay, giving quarterback Derek Carr a legitimate home run threat at the position. Clive Walford is currently lower on the depth chart, but has the kind of talent that could make him a solid player as a starter. Walford has shown the ability to make big catches during his time with the Silver and Black, and the Bills need all the weapons they can get.

Buffalo has a standout running back in LeSean McCoy, and wide receiver Sammy Watkins is a very good player when he is healthy. The team also spent one of their draft picks on Zay Jones, a standout collegiate wide receiver who could be a special player down the line. At tight end, the team currently has Charles Clay atop the depth chart, but he is not a player who can consistently get you catches on a weekly basis.

Walford to the Bills makes sense, and Oakland has proven to do a nice job with their draft picks. Losing a fifth round pick for a potential starting tight end is not a bad deal for Buffalo, and for Walford, playing in Western New York might be just what he needs to blossom into a star in the league.
