The Celtics were down 21 points in Game 3 without Isaiah Thomas, but pulled off the comeback after a game-winning 3 from Avery Bradley.

The Boston Celtics were completely counted out almost immediately in their Eastern Conference finals series with the Cleveland Cavaliers, even as the top seed.

However, down 2-0 in the series and with a 21 point deficit in the game without Isaiah Thomas, the Celtics pulled off the seemingly impossible. They came back, suddenly going on a hot streak from beyond the arc, and downed the Cavaliers and their 13-game postseason win streak.

With just 10 seconds left in the game, Marcus Smart took an inbound pass from Jonas Jerebko, who caught fire and was a key piece of the comeback offensively for the C’s. Smart, matched up with LeBron James, drew the Cavs’ defense in to the paint, leaving Avery Bradley open for a wide-open three that went down with 0.1 seconds left.

Smart was pivotal throughout the entire game in Thomas’ absence, going for 27 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, including the clutch assist to Bradley for the winner. Another big piece of the puzzle was Jerebko, who hit some big shots in the fourth quarter and went for 10 points in 12 minutes.

On the other side, James went for just 11, which is likely not the best thing in the world in a home game against a weakened Celtics team.

The Celtics came together perfectly despite the loss of Thomas to injury, and will have to keep up the pace in Game 4 in Cleveland to have any chance in the series. It’ll be interesting to see what will happen with IT if the Celtics manage to pull off another “upset” in Game 4, and head back to Boston with the series tied.

For now, let’s just admire the magical moment of Bradley breaking the Cavs’ postseason streak, and bringing some life back to the NBA conference finals.
