Cavs fans used Wikipedia to label their Game 2 blowout victory the “Boston Massacre.”

No one imagined that Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals would end with the Cleveland Cavaliers destroying the Boston Celtics by 44 points. From opening tip to final buzzer, it was all Cavs, all the time. Led by a 30-point, 7-assist effort from LeBron James, and 20-plus point performances from Kylie Irving and Kevin Love, the Cavs took a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Celtics in demoralizing fashion.

By halftime the smackdown was in full effect, the Celtics were down by 41, and Cavs fans immediately took to social media, taking jabs at the biggest blowout in conference finals history.

They called it the Boston Massacre.

Some Cavs fans likened the 130-86 thrashing to Boston’s legendary patriot rebellion of 1770. However, on this night there was no Paul Revere or Samuel Adams, just LBJ and his teammates bringing the Celtics closer to the end of a magical season. To take the insult further, it was also discovered that the Wikipedia page dedicated to the original Boston Massacre was mysteriously edited to include a summary of Friday night’s beatdown (h/t r/cavs).

"The Boston Massacre"

It will be tough sledding from this point forward, because pride is on the line, and the Celtics must have a more inspired performance in Game 3 if they hope to bounce back from last week’s nightmare. Now there is an urgent need for redemption in the name of the franchise, the city of Boston and it’s storied history.

Of course, the news that Isaiah Thomas is out for the rest of the playoffs and may need surgery on his injured hip is probably worse news than an edited Wikipedia page.
