Did Smackdown’s new women’s stable called “The Welcoming Committee” take down Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Naomi at Backlash?

The “Welcoming Committee”, comprised of Natalya, Carmella and Tamina, has taken over the SmackDown Live women’s division in recent weeks, and they found themselves in a battle with three of the brand’s best for control of the division at Backlash.

The last few weeks have been filled with chaos from the Welcoming Committee, including the team ruining Charlotte’s SmackDown women’s title shot, and costing Becky Lynch a match with Committee leader Natalya. To combat the new women’s stable, the unlikely trio of SmackDown  Naomi, Charlotte and Lynch had to come together to battle the other three women in a tag match on Sunday night.

After a big introduction from the “Michael Jordan of Sports Entertainment”, James Ellsworth, the Welcoming Committee and the three faces made their way to the ring for a solid match.

Also, before things got underway, we got just a quick reminder of how this entrance is still one of the best things to happen to the women’s division in the last year.

Fans were witnesses to the same, usual pay-per-view dominance they’ve become accustomed to from Charlotte, as she started the match off strong for her team.

The Welcoming Committee utilized quick tags to take care of Charlotte in their corner, and showed some great chemistry throughout the match to single out their opponents. After some

Naomi made the hot tag after Charlotte took the brunt of the damage for her team, and took care of Carmella and Tamina briefly before the Samoan distracted Team Blue’s women’s champ and got things back in the Committee’s favor.

The Committee utilized some solid heel tactics throughout the match, with Carmella taking out Lynch and Natalya taking out Charlotte at different moments in their corner to inflict more damage on Naomi.

When Lynch finally made her way into the match, she went right to work, taking out all of her opponents and focused right in on Natalya.

Lynch eventually reversed a sharpshooter into her Disarmer, before Carmella broke up the submission and all hell broke loose with everyone making an appearance in the ring. The third time was the charm with the Tamina interference, as Natalya locked in the sharpshooter on Lynch after another run-in and tapped out her opponent.

The match was a solid one that pretty much met expectations, and kept up the usual pace that the entire Backlash card had been following the entire night. In the end, the Welcoming Committee proved that they’re here to stay, and look like they’ll run rampant on the women’s division for a long, long time. And James Ellsworth, he’s there, too.
