He tells Lucifer that Maze is furious with him and might actually do him bodily harm this time, which amuses Lucifer. He’s not worried about Maze, but he is worried about their mother, who is sitting several tables away talking to one of her clients who claims to have the missing piece of the flaming sword. They watch as she gives him the case of money and he leaves. She tells them that he is going to get the piece from the safe and they insist that she’s been fleeced, but when they go inside the bar they find him dead on the floor. The money and the piece of the sword are both missing.
Maze arrives at Dr. Linda’s office to find a man there. She pulls out her blades but Linda says she’s ok. The man leaves and Linda says he was the chair of the ethics review board. She’s not ok. Chloe says no, and Charlotte tries to convince her that her the client was in trouble.
The trio arrives to find the man in the same place. Charlotte doesn’t want to leave, preferring to stay there and work together with her son.
Ella takes a look at the body while the police study the scene. Chloe wants to know why Zeke was Charlotte’s client, and it turns out he works for someone the police have been waiting to contact. There’s no sign of a struggle, so he might have known the person who killed him. Ella finds a phone but it’s locked. The picture on the lock screen is of either eyes, boobs, or a freckled butt. So no real leads here.

At the party, Charlotte searches for Chloe, who walks in wearing a great dress and killer makeup. “Let’s get this party started,” Chloe says as she walks by. Charlotte is impressed. Chloe doesn’t understand why Charlotte is helping them, and she says it’s because Charlotte is a different person now. They spot Chet and Charlotte says Chloe is more his type. Charlotte is stunned that Chloe believes that he will betray his mother.
Maze sits in the chair’s office with Lucifer and tells him how Linda helped Lucifer through so much trouble. He appreciates their testimonial, and he’ll put it in his notes. Lucifer slips and says that he slept with her, and that she saved his life after killing him. Needless to say, he put his foot in his mouth and it didn’t help Linda at all.
Charlotte tells Bianca that the police are looking for her son, and she is very grateful for the information. Bianca approaches Chet and asks what he did, and he said he took care of a problem, but he didn’t know that his mother was profiting from Zeke’s side business. And he dropped his phone at the murder scene. Chloe is there listening to all of it, so they go to a quieter spot in the room. When they separate, Bianca shows up next to Chloe.
Dan and Amenadiel sit at the bar and discuss improv. Dan says that improv helped him get back together after the past year. He stopped defining himself by other people, like Lucifer. With both Lucifer and Maze battered and bloodied, Lucifer asks for a time out. They have destryed the benches around them and he tells her he had no idea she was this mad at him. She says he was going to leave her, and he says he would never do that to her. He needed her to believe that so she’d be angry, making his plan look real. She tells him that’s even worse than not telling her.
Ella says the phone could bring down Bianca, but she might be able to crack the phone’s code. They need the phone to arrest Chet, so they have to keep working.
Linda sees Lucifer and Maze all bloodied and wonders if they killed the chair of the review board. Maze reveals that Lucifer told him they had slept together, and Linda realizes it’s over. When he sees how emotional she is, he realizes what a mistake he made. Maze vows to make things right for Linda.
Bianca goes to Charlotte’s office and says that she has learned that her son killed Zeke, and that Zeke was smuggling something for Charlotte. If Charlotte gets his phone back from the police, Bianca will give her the item.

Ella thinks she’s there for Dan and she threatens Charlotte if she ever hurts Dan again. Ella gets a call and leaves the phone with Charlotte, who starts to steal it but is caught by Chloe.

Charlotte takes the phone to Bianca, who makes sure that the phone wasn’t cloned. Chloe and Lucifer listen in, but then she dumps a drink on herself, shorting the wire she’s wearing. Bianca gives her the key to a safe deposit box, which isn’t their deal. That’s when the police break in. Charlotte gives the key to Lucifer before Chloe searches her. The phone is now unlocked, so they have what they need to convict Chet.
Charlotte, Amenadiel and Lucifer look at the book that was in the safe deposit box. It’s in an ancient language and Amenadiel says it will take time to translate. She gets anxious and Amenadiel wonders why she’s in such a rush. She says she wants to see the rest of the family, and she leaves. Both sons watch her go, knowing something is very wrong with their mother.
Maze visits the review board chair’s office. She pushes him inside and closes the door.
Dan finds Chloe at her desk and congratulates her on cracking the case, but she says that Chet is still at large. She cautions Dan about Charlotte, telling him she’s Lucifer’s step-mom. That makes sense to Dan, and he laughs when Chloe says if he married her, that would make him Lucifer’s dad.
