Last week, the usual Archer crew — still in the noir setting obviously — spent most of the time attempting to escape the evil clutches of Dutch Dylan (a.k.a. Barry). There were many big reveals, such as Mother being the one who killed Woodhouse, but there was still something missing from the show that all of the other seasons of Archer seemed to always have.

Bad news for last week’s episode, “Gramercy Halberd!,” as the ratings dropped yet again. Going from .38 to .31, Archer Dreamland has consistently dropped in the ratings every week since airing except for a marginal .01 increase from episode 3 to episode 4.

The good news is that Archer had been renewed for three more seasons before the airing of this season. The bad news is that the low ratings are no longer excusable, even if the show pulls in massive numbers online. Hopefully, the writers see that the show’s normal fan base is not too fond of the experimental season, and, while I enjoy it, they move on to something more normal in season 9.

Since this is the last episode of season 8, we should expect everything to finally come together. Even more importantly, however, we will likely finally see Archer awake from his coma and return to the “normal” world.
