Ezekiel Elliot was involved in a car accident this  past Sunday and is being held  out of  OTAs until further evaluation for head trauma.

OTAs are typically known for star players holding out for a better contract, but Ezekiel Elliot is being held out with a head injury.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Elliot was involved in a car accident this past Sunday.

Though there was no significant damage, he did sustain a head injury and is currently being evaluated for it.

The Dallas Cowboys surely must have cringed when they were informed of this because their star players are always getting injured whether it is on or off the field.

However, it is only OTAs and training camp is still a long time away.

Elliot was injured in the offseason last year as well, but that didn’t stop him from terrorizing teams with a league-leading 1,631 rushing yards.

The Cowboys should feel very fortunate that this accident happened in May and not during the regular season.

This gives the Cowboys the chance to see what else they have at the running back position.

Darren McFadden missed the bulk of last season with an off field accident, so those reps will definitely be helpful in getting him back to form.

The worst case scenario is that Elliot suffered a concussion, in which case holding him out of OTAs indefinitely would be the wisest choice.

If he were to miss any time for the Cowboys this upcoming season that would spell bad news.

Elliot was a vital part of the team’s offense last season and his absence would allow defenses to key in on Dak Prescott more frequently.

There should be no rush to bring Elliot back.

Precautionary measures would be the best bet, for the future of Cowboys would look bleak without Elliot.
