Which five hitters are the last people pitchers would want to see charging the mound?

For the second straight season, MLB has seen a hitter charge the mound after being hit by a pitcher. It’s becoming more commonplace in the league because hitters are starting to fight back and try to teach pitchers not to throw at them. To be fair, it’s perfectly justifiable to charge the mound if someone hurls a projectile at 95 miles per hour anywhere near your head.

This is happening between both leagues. One would think a National League pitcher would be much less likely to throw at anyone’s head because they have to bat. However, Hunter Strickland proved this theory wrong by throwing at Bryce Harper. Predictably, the latter charged the mound, challenging the former to fisticuffs. This happened not even 365 days after Manny Machado turned Yordano Ventura into an internet meme by punching him in the face following a pitch way too close to the head.

But which five hitters would pitchers be the most scared of? Which bat-wielding brawlers sprinting towards the mound would force a change of pants for the hurler? Here’s a look at the last five hitters a pitcher should want to see charging the mound.

5. Giancarlo Stanton

Generally, Giancarlo Stanton is a pretty nice guy. He’s legitimately one of the most friendly and outgoing players in the game. However, Stanton is also one scary looking dude at 6’6″ and 245 pounds. He looks more like a tight end or small forward than an outfielder. Not to mention Stanton’s an extremely athletic guy.

No sane person would deliberately throw at him. First of all, who wants to bean one of the good guys in the game? Secondly, why would you want to enrage someone who could body slam you before any of your teammates could save you?
