Lonzo Ball will visit the Los Angeles Lakers June 9. He is the projected second overall pick by the Lakers.

It’s Lakers or bust for Lonzo Ball. After declining to workout for the Boston Celtics who hold the first overall pick, many thought Ball may not work out at all prior to the 2017 NBA Draft. However, Ball plans to visit his beloved Lakers June 9.

Shams Charania of the Vertical first reported the news.

The recent FanSided mock draft has the Lakers projected to take Ball with the second overall pick. The Lakers came into the draft lottery with the third-best odds but moved up one selection by the lucky (or rigged) ping pong balls. For the NBA, keeping Ball close to home in Los Angeles next to his loony dad is a storyline everyone seems to be interested in.

Ball seems hellbent on becoming a Laker (well according to his father anyway). With Markelle Fultz projected to get selected with the first overall pick, Ball seems destined to be selected by the Lakers.

If the Lakers were to pass on Ball, there was a report that the team also have an interest in De’Aaron Fox and Josh Jackson. Both Fox and Jackson have elite athleticism which will make the decision to pass on Ball definitely something to consider. With Ball set to visit the Lakers, it’s unclear at this time what his visit will pertain.

With Magic Johnson running the show, the LaVar Ball sideshow likely won’t be tolerated once he enters the league. Ball’s fit in LA will likely move D’Angelo Russell to the two guard if they decide to keep Russell. At the moment it looks like Brandon Ingram is the only untouchable building block for the Lakers.
