Lucifer season 2 episode 18 recap: Season finale

The season finale of Lucifer has arrived, and the devil is in the details. Here’s your complete recap of “The Good, the Bad and the Crispy.”

Charlotte stares at the dead body on the floor and tries everything she can to kill herself, but she can’t. She makes a call and asks for a favor.

Amenadiel can’t believe that he’s had the key to the flaming sword the whole time. He and Lucifer laugh until Lucifer says that Amenadiel isn’t the favorite son and that this is all a big joke. They start a fight. Lucifer says he’s stronger but Amenadiel is the favorite son. The dynamic of their relationship has changed with this news.

Linda is surprised to find Charlotte in her office. Charlotte reveals that she has been wounded, but she can’t go to a hospital because of the whole divinity thing. As she reveals the wound, Charlotte warns her to duck as the light shoots out and burns a hole in the wall. Linda grabs some duct tape. “This stuff is amazing,” Linda says.

Lucifer asks Chloe for advice now that their father has said that Amenadiel is the favorite. She says their father really explains why Lucifer is the way he is. They arrive at the crime scene to find a naked, shaved body on the ground. The head has been burned off and we see that it’s Chet’s body. It looks like the body has been moved.

Lucifer heads to Linda’s office looking for Amenadiel and he finds Charlotte getting patched up. Lucifer sees the burned hole in the wall and realizes her powers have returned. Lucifer says he needs to find Amenadiel all the more because she’s a ticking time bomb. He mentions that Amenadiel has the key to return to Heaven, which makes Charlotte very happy. When she reveals that she accidentally killed Chet, he realizes that they need to get her away immediately.

Lucifer knocks on Chloe’s door and Trixie sees his wounds and says he needs to be patched up. She has already helped Maze, who is all patched up. While Trixie does her work, Lucifer tells Maze that Charlotte is in the basement at Lux and he needs Maze’s help to find Amenadiel. She agrees to help for her usual fee. When Trixie gives Maze a lollipop, Lucifer wants one too, but Trixie says that he was a bad patient. She and Maze exchange fist bumps.

Chloe tells Chet’s brother that he has been found dead, and he’s in shock. He knows his family had a lot of enemies, which is why he left to get away from the family business. He knows that Chloe is the one who locked up his mother but Chet wasn’t like his mother.

Lucifer goes in and tries to mess up evidence in Ella’s lab. However, she has evidence in triplicate. Ella tells Chloe and Lucifer that there isn’t much to work on, but when Lucifer refers to his dad, Ella realizes that they can use satellite imagery to track movement, which throws a wrench in Lucifer’s plan.

Amenadiel does an intense performance at the improv. He’s talking about how finding out that he’s the favorite son has changed the way he views his dad, which doesn’t exactly go with the scene. Dan coaches him, and they switch to a scene about a giraffe going into labor. Amenadiel misses the message and launches into a tirade about his father. Dan tells him to stay light, but Amenadiel wants to know how improv helped him.

Lucifer and Chloe go in search of the van that might have transported the body. Lucifer tries to run interference but it doesn’t work. When they find the van, they also find two people in hazmat suits carrying a body on a stretcher. Chloe pulls a gun on them and the women say this isn’t what it looks like. Eva and Kathleen explain that they run Dandelion Cleaners. They clean up crime scenes. Chloe asks if they were in Eagle Rock the night before, and the women say no, but Kathleen admits she went to see her ex. They carry on loading the body into the van while Chloe tells Lucifer to stop getting in the way of the investigation.

Amenadiel hugs Dan when he says he’ll help Amenadiel get the hang of improv. Maze walks in after Dan leaves and teases him about his touchy feely hobby. Maze says she’s bounty hunting Amenadiel, who says he’s working out his issues. All this time he has been holding things against his father, but in the end it wasn’t real. Maze uses her taser on him. She isn’t paid by the hour.

Ella sees Chloe looking at the Eiffel Tower and asks if she’s going to Paris, but Chloe says it’s the hotel in Vegas. She’s checking Kathleen Lyon’s alibi, and her ex was in Vegas so there was no way they would have been together. What are they hiding?

Amenadiel wakes up and reveals that he has hidden the necklace. Maze goes to get Charlotte so Amenadiel can explain why they won’t be returning to Heaven. Amenadiel says he thinks they need to find another plan. Lucifer tells him that Charlotte’s powers have returned and she has killed someone, so they need to contain her. Amenadiel wasn’t expecting to hear that, so he stops. Maze returns to say Charlotte has fled.

Charlotte shows up at Linda’s office and wants to know why Linda wondered if Lucifer was responsible for the wound. Linda tries to hide the truth from her, but Charlotte is very persuasive. Either Linda tells her or Charlotte will kill her.

Dan and Chloe find the charred body of Eva Lyon, and Kathleen runs in to find that her sister was killed. Later, at the station, Kathleen reveals that she had indeed been with her ex, but then she got a call with an offer to clean up a body for a hundred grand.

Chloe calls Lucifer and asks her to come to the station and do his magic trick to find out what Kathleen was up to. Lucifer is on the phone when Charlotte walks in, so he hangs up. However, that tips off Chloe that Charlotte might be involved.

Charlotte says she needed to clear her head. She’s happy Amenadiel is there and she’s ready for them to return to Heaven. Amenadiel insists that Lucifer tell Charlotte that they don’t think using the flaming sword is a good idea. She realizes they’re talking about sending her back to Hell to be the ruler. Charlotte is furious that her boys are working against her. Charlotte reveals that she had to persuade Linda to tell her the truth about their real plan, and before they can rush out, Charlotte throws them across the room into the piano. She demands that they give her the missing piece, but Amenadiel refuses. She says she’ll find another way.

Lucifer and Amenadiel argue over making their mother upset. Amenadiel promises to check on Linda if Lucifer goes to find their mom.

Dan and Chloe find Charlotte at the Santa Monica Pier watching a bunch of kids. She wants to call Lucifer, and Lucifer thinks it’s Chloe but he’s terrified when Charlotte answers. She says they can still do the right thing. Charlotte wants to go talk to Chloe outside the pier, and before she goes she kisses Dan and says he was always her favorite.

Lucifer calls Amenadiel and says that they have to give Charlotte the key because she’s going to hurt people, and she has Chloe. Amenadiel realizes they don’t have a choice.

Maze runs into Linda’s office and sees blood on the doorknob. She finds Linda on the ground with a stab wound to her belly. Linda says she didn’t want to reveal anything to Charlotte but she forced her to talk. Maze has tears running down her face when Amenadiel arrives. Maze begs him to help her.

Lucifer arrives at the pier and finds Amenadiel’s necklace in Dan’s pocket.

Chloe wants to know answers, and Charlotte says she didn’t kill the cleaner. Lucifer runs up and has the sword, but Chet’s brother is also there and Hector wants to kill Charlotte for what she did to their family. They all point their guns at each other.

Amenadiel knows that they won’t get Linda to the hospital in time, so he freezes time. He tells Maze to take Linda to safety. That also stops time for Lucifer, who takes Charlotte off the pier and ignites the flame. He says her time is up. He can’t allow her to continue hurting people. She used Lucifer and Chloe. Charlotte reminds him that their father used Chloe to manipulate Lucifer, but he’s not willing to leave LA. She wants a chance to start over. Lucifer says going home is going backwards. That means she needs to move forward, so he cuts a slice into the world and he offers her a chance to go create a new world. That ways they don’t have to go home and start a war. This is the best way, he says. She calls Lucifer her angel and tells him how much she will miss him.

Charlotte’s light is pulled into the hole, and Charlotte passes out. She’s back to who she was originally. Time starts over and Chloe shoots Hector. Amenadiel smiles when he realizes he saved Linda, who arrives at the hospital. Charlotte wakes up and is back to her old self.

Later, Chloe reveals that she thinks Hector killed both victims. She wants to know why Lucifer didn’t tell her what he was thinking. She says she will always forgive him.

Lucifer goes to see Linda, who forgives him. She says she chose to be his friend, which means she has to face everything with him, the good and the bad. Outside the hospital, he calls Chloe and leaves a message saying that he’s on his way over and he wants to tell her everything. No more going backwards.

Of course, as soon as he hangs up he gets mugged, and he awakens in the desert, half naked and burned up. He looks up and his wings are back.
