The front gate of LeBron James’ Los Angeles home was reportedly vandalized on Wednesday morning, according to TMZ.

According to the report from TMZ, “someone spray painted the n-word on the front gate.” TMZ also reported that the infraction was responded to by “multiple LAPD units and a neighborhood patrol vehicle.” The incident is being investigating as a potential hate crime.

Investigators at the scene are hopeful the security footage from James’ nearby neighbors will help to find the individual(s) involved in the graffiti defamation of his property, per the report.

James, an Akron native, doesn’t spend much time in the house and wasn’t there at the time of the crime, from the report. LAPD officer Aareon Jefferson relayed that the department received a call around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning regarding the racial slur and by the time law enforcement arrived to the scene it was already covered up by property managers.

The racial incident comes on the heels of James speaking about race relations earlier in May after what Orioles center fielder Adam Jones went through in Boston at Fenway Park.

"Racism is gonna be a part of time forever, I believe, but I think for us, the people that have the opportunities to have a voice and people that have an opportunity to have some play on the youth that’s coming up, we have to lead them the best way we can, and we have to live with the results, so hopefully I was able to answer your question. It’s a real, real longer conversation, but if we can keep the conversation going, I think it helps"
