Ervin Santana

RHP, Minnesota Twins

Now that the PEDs are out of the way, we are back to enjoying the wonders of Smell Baseball Life with Ervin “Magic” Santana. When he signed with the Minnesota Twins, we were all waiting for him to channel that elite stuff he showed with the Angels, Royals and Braves before.

Santana is definitely going to work for a surprisingly decent 26-21 Twins team. He is 7-2 on the year with a 3.0 WAR. Santana has a filthy 1.75 ERA, a 0.844 WHIP and 56 punch outs. When he’s on, Santana has shown the last five seasons that he can carry a pitching staff. For now, he’s AL Cy Young Runner-UP as we enter June.

Clayton Kershaw

LHP, Los Angeles Dodgers

All Clayton Kershaw does is win NL Cy Young Awards. Then again, that hasn’t exactly translated to postseason success for the beloved southpaw for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nevertheless, Kershaw’s Dodgers find themselves in the thick of things in the NL West at 32-20 through 52 games.

On the year, Kershaw has a 7-2 record with a 2.2 WAR. He boasts a 2.37 ERA, a 0.947 WHIP and has 78 strikeouts. Kershaw is one of those pitchers that seems to catch fire as the weather warms in Los Angeles. If he puts together a June, July and August like we all know he can, Kershaw has this award in the bag.
