4. Todd Christensen

Former Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders tight end Todd Christensen was a gentleman and a son of a scholar. He was a five-time Pro Bowler, a four-time All-Pro and a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Raiders. Christensen was also one of the best mustache enthusiasts the NFL has ever seen.

Out of BYU, Christensen had the curly mop of hair and the mustache to dominate every aerobics class he ever went to. He may have twice led the NFL in receptions, but we remember him most for his ‘stache and his great work on camera as the sports version of Ron Burgundy.

Christensen didn’t have to say dumb things like “Whammy!” or chicken fry bats to be a champ like Champ Kind. When you have a burly and brawny mustache, you can pretty much do whatever your want. The hair perm might have faded over time, but Christensen rocked an impeccable ‘stache until he tragically passed away at 57 in 2013 due to complications from liver surgery.

He was kind of like the NFL’s version of Keith Hernandez and Walt “Clyde” Frazier, a really good player in his own right, but undeniably gifted on TV due to having an incredible mustache. ESPN misses Christensen’s terrific on-air work. Football fans and mustache enthusiasts miss him, too.
