Will there be a second Wonder Woman movie in the DCEU? We have the latest as the first standalone film featuring Diana Price hits theaters nationwide on June 2.

Prior to Wonder Woman, Warner Brothers’ films based on DC Comics haven’t exactly had the easiest time of things so far.

Beginning with 2013 Man of Steel, and continuing with 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, the studio has had a bit of a mixed bag.

The films have all done well from a financial standpoint at the box office. However, the movies haven’t been a resounding success with fans or critics.

Moving forward, it will certainly be interesting to see how the DCEU fares.

Wonder Woman looks to be getting the ball moving in the right direction with some pre-release buzz that is both significant and positive.

Down the line, there will also be anticipated standalone outings for two more key DC characters as Aquaman and The Flash move toward being released.

In addition, films like Justice League, as well as films focusing on Batman, Cyborg, the Green Lanterns and Black Adam will all make their way towards theaters.

Potential sequel

However, with Wonder Woman coming out on June 2, the question remains, will there be a sequel to Diana Prince’s standalone outing?

Well, that’s to be determined as of now. Nothing is official at this point, but director Patty Jenkins recently talked about a potential sequel in an interview with Fandango.

"“It’s definitely something I’m very, very, very interested,” she said. “I love what we’ve created and I love the team that I worked with doing it and these actors so much that, yeah, we’re all very excited to talk about continuing forward together.”"

So yeah, nothing set in stone at this point.

Still, purely from a speculative standpoint, it wouldn’t be a surprise to have more Wonder Woman movies. The character was one of the bright spots in Batman v Superman. What’s more, Wonder Woman’s solo outing could also perform well at the box office if the positive buzz translates.

Next: Who stars in Wonder Woman?

To continue with the speculative line of thinking, considering Wonder Woman is one of the most iconic comic book characters of all time, a sequel would certainly make a lot of sense.
