The Predators seemed to be down and out after an early goal from the Penguins, and bounced back with two goals in less than a minute to take the lead.

The Nashville Predators needed a spark in Game 3 to fight their way both back into the game and back into the Stanley Cup Finals, and they got it in the second period.

After going down early in the first period of Game 3 to the Pittsburgh Penguins off of a goal from Jake Guentzel, it looked as if we were about to see another bad loss for the Predators, who gave up eight goals in the first two games combined.

Then, out of nowhere, the Predators bounced back, scoring two goals in 42 seconds to rapidly take back the lead and the momentum in front of their home crowd.

First, Roman Josi broke open the scoring for the Predators with a rocket from the face-off circle, and sent the crowd into a frenzy as he tied the game.

Next, before the Predators fans could even get their “It’s all your fault” chant out towards Penguins goalie Matt Murray, lightning struck twice.

The Predators gained another goal from Frederick Gaudreau, less than a minute later, and took a 2-1 lead about halfway through the second period.

The lead is a nice change of pace for the Predators, who haven’t been able to catch a break for most of this Stanley Cup Finals. The team is 7-1 at home in the postseason, and is hoping to take advantage of the hometown fans to come back from their 2-0 deficit in the series.

With how Pekka Rinne has been playing in net for the Predators in this series, however, the team may need a few more goals just as quick to be sure that their lead is safe.
