3-on-3 basketball to be a part of the 2020 Olympic Games
Not only will there be the normal 5-on-5 basketball during the Olympics, reportedly there will also be 3-on-3 basketball added to the 2020 games in Tokyo.
Wow, looks like the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be adding another popular sport in the United States. At Rucker Park and many others across the country, people are playing 3-on-3 basketball more than they play 5-on-5 basketball. Looks like the Olympics are adopting the same formula and will add this game to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
This news was first reported by the Associated Press. The FIBA has been discussing the possible addition of 3-on-3 basketball to the Olympics for years now. At NBC’s Pro Basketball Talk, Kurt Helin made the comparison to beach volleyball games and the indoor volleyball games. Both are really popular, so why not try the same with basketball?

It’s been a part of the World Cup and now it’ll be making its’ appearance at the Olympics starting in 2020 at Tokyo. It’s not official yet, the final vote is set to be taken next Friday. The Olympic committee is pushing for this addition due to the fact that it’s tailor made for the viewer. Typically, people don’t want to watch a 40-minute game that’s more formal. These games are 12 minutes and without a coach. It’s players you haven’t heard of and guys you can get behind.
