Neville and Austin Aries added another chapter to their long rivalry over the Cruiserweight title at Extreme Rules. Who came out victorious?

Austin Aries got his third chance at the Cruiserweight Championship on Sunday night at Extreme Rules, and was in his element in a submission match with defending champ Neville.

After matches at WrestleMania and Payback between the two, Extreme Rules provided one more opportunity for Aries to finally capture the title that’s been so elusive for him the last few months.

Aries and Neville each had their respective Last Chancery and Rings of Saturn to utilize in the match but in the end, one had to overcome the other.

The King of the Cruiserweights was willing to do anything to defend his title, and immediately took advantage of Aries’ injured knee early in the match.

Aries immediately showcased some unique submissions looking to win the title, including this weird move that scared the champ a bit to open the match.

Aries continued his control of the match, and even took the damage outside to really get onto the Neville Level.

A dive to the outside reinjured Aries’ already-taped knee, and it changed the momentum of the match. Another hit from Neville right to the knee forced Aries off the ring apron and to the outside, and may have tweaked both Aries’ shoulder and knee in the process.

Late in the match, Neville took advantage of a top-rope miss from Aries and locked in the Rings of Saturn, and all looked to be lost for the challenger. However, Aries crawled his way to the ropes, and fought back into the match.

On the champ’s next try, Aries managed to lock in his own version of the Rings of Saturn, which Neville got out of by again grabbing the referee, reminiscent of Payback.

A-Double managed to hit a sunset flip power bomb off the top rope, and locked in Last Chancery shortly after.

The move transferred to the outside, which made Neville tap, but the move was all for nothing, as the submission didn’t occur in the ring.

The champ bounced back with a Red Arrow right to Aries’ back, and then locked in Rings of Saturn for the final time in the match to make Aries tap.

The third time definitely wasn’t the charm for the challenger, and Neville proved that he’s still the King of the Cruiserweights.
