Rain got in the way of the two men’s singles quarterfinals matches on Tuesday at the French Open. Both matches have been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 7.

With it being early June in the northern hemisphere, rain is just something people have to deal with. So it should come as no surprise that weather would play a factor in the 2017 French Open at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.

Given that the tennis major is played on clay, it is massively important the playing surface remains dry. Otherwise, it’s basically just a soupy mess that nobody wants out there. The ball doesn’t bounce particularly great on clay to begin with anyway.

For that reason, the two men’s singles quarterfinals matches scheduled for Tuesday, June 6 have been postponed to Wednesday, June 7 due to rain. With neither of the four quarterfinals set to play today, it’s not really a big issue that they will end up having to wait another day.

Unfortunately, that means tennis fans across the globe will have to wait until tomorrow to see No. 2 Novak Djokovic and No. 4 Rafael Nadal in action. Both were slated to play on Tuesday, but will be be on display tomorrow instead, when No. 1 Andy Murray and No. 3 Stan Wawrinka also take to the court.

Men’s Results

No. 2 Novak Djokovic vs. No. 6 Dominic Thiem (Postponed until Wednesday, June 7)
No. 4 Rafael Nadal vs. No. 20 Pablo Carreno Busta (Postponed until Wednesday, June 7)

The good news is that tomorrow should be a fantastic day of tennis, weather permitting. Normally, we wouldn’t expect to see the top-four seeds playing on the same day until the event’s semifinals. Tomorrow, we will have the distinct pleasure to see Murray, Djokovic, Wawrinka and Nadal go to work on hopefully not soggy clay puddles. It should be well worth the wait.
