Orange is the New Black season 5 release date and time

The release date of Orange is the New Black season 5 is right around the corner, so here’s when all 13 episodes will be available to stream on Netflix.
The fifth season of Orange is the New Black is almost here, which means your weekend of binge-watching, running to the bathroom as fast as possible (unless you do what I do and take your iPad with you), and avoiding spoilers is just around the corner.
So when does it come out?
As Netflix always does, the new season will drop at midnight on Friday, June 9. And while it may be available everywhere, East Coasters won’t find the show’s fifth season in their Netflix catalog at 12:01 a.m. Unfortunately, Netflix bows to Pacific Standard Time (they’re headquartered in California after all), so for example, if the inmates at Litchfield Penitentiary in Litchfield, New York wanted to watch the show, they’d have to wait until 3:00 a.m ET.
Just to be clear: You know all those fictional inmates would be obsessed with Orange is the New Black. Meta or not, facts are facts.
Now, because Orange is the New Black is globally licensed, it’s available in all regions all the time. Basically, you’re going to have to go through the trouble of conversions if you’re watching in, say, New Zealand or something.
But the good news is once it’s available, you can zoom through all 13 episodes. Of course, Netflix drops everything at once because they believe “most people watch those shows on demand and on DVRs and in multiple episode stacks.” Or at least, that’s how Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, put it once upon a time. Further, Netflix feels like it would be borderline abusive to force people to answer to a schedule instead of watching at their own pace.

Anyone who watches Orange is the New Black probably knows that the freedom to spend your time however you please is a luxury in and of itself. But let it be known that I choose to spend mine waiting up until 3:00 a.m. ET on June 9 to crack into the first episode of Orange is the New Black season 5.
