You can add in the 2004 Pistons as another dream team that thinks they could beat the 2017 Warriors, as Rip Hamilton gave his vote of confidence for his team.

It seems like we get some random dream team battle scenario every hour during this year’s NBA Finals between the dominant Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and of course Thursday was no different.

In an interview with CBS Sports, Rip Hamilton of the 2004 Detroit Pistons squad that won the NBA title said that his team could’ve beaten the modern-day Warriors if they were to somehow battle in the NBA Finals. While Hamilton backed off an original “domination” claim, he still showed confidence in his Pistons, and said they’d win in a seven-game series.

“At the end of the day we matchup good with’em,” Hamilton told CBS Sports. “But we’re also bigger. We could have switched everything 1-5 against them. Just cause we had great defenders Rasheed and Ben Wallace were one of the best perimeter defenders not just on the block but can also guard guys out on the perimeter”

Hamilton’s team was truly dominant in their title run, and even had their own run-in with a super team equivalent to the likes of today’s Warriors or Cavaliers. With a stacked lineup of Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace, the 2004 Pistons took down the favorite Los Angeles Lakers, back in the days where Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were tearing it up on the floor of the Staples Center.

Next: Every NBA team's greatest playoff moment

Hamilton joins the likes of Magic Johnson, Julius Erving, and seemingly everyone else in the NBA’s history who has won a title before, as people who believe they could’ve taken down the Warriors. However, it’d probably be tough for any team to outdo one that is on the verge of a complete postseason sweep.
