JR Smith needed to make up for a lackluster first three games of the NBA Finals, and may have done it with his huge, deep 3 in Game 4.

Steph Curry struggled in the first quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals, and it looks like we may have had a bit of a Like Mike situation involving JR Smith to explain it.

Curry had a horrible first quarter for the Golden State Warriors, with two points, two fouls and two turnovers to his name in the first frame. Now, it looks like Smith may have just straight up taken all of Curry’s talent to help out the Cleveland Cavaliers, and figured out how to drain shots from way downtown.

In the middle of the second quarter of Game 4, Smith found himself with the ball after a last-second pass from LeBron James with the shot clock running down. Smith, with two Warriors defenders rapidly closing in on him, pulled up from almost half court, with his feet basically touching the Cavaliers logo in the middle of the floor.

Smith drained the shot, almost with ease, to put his team at 60 points with over seven minutes left to go in the record-setting first half.

Smith may have felt the need to bounce back from an unfortunate Twitter situation from after Game 3, where a tweet was sent from his account saying “Cavs in 7”, after the team fell to a 3-0 series deficit.

The Cavaliers are hitting on all cylinders tonight, and breaking records in the process. Their 49-point first quarter set the record for the most points in a quarter in NBA Finals history, and all of the starters for the Cavaliers contributed to the big first.

Hopefully these crazy shots keep coming, and maybe we’ll have Smith pulling up from his own basket for full-court shots if they keep falling.
