Watch the full race highlight from the 2017 Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 10, the final leg of the Triple Crown races for the year

Quite frankly, the common narrative about the 2017 Belmont Stakes was simply that it lost some of its shine. As the third leg of the Triple Crown legs, that might seem a bit crazy. However, casual horse racing fans have reasons that, on the surface, make some sort of sense.

First and foremost, there was no shot at a horse winning the Triple Crown. Obviously that was a bit part of it all given that people love to see history, but it went out of the window with Cloud Computing winning the Preakness following Always Dreaming’s win at the Kentucky Derby.

Taking even more away from the 2017 Belmont Stakes, however, is the fact that both Cloud Computing and Always Dreaming weren’t in the field for the race on Saturday, June 10. With that being said, there was still reason to be excited about the race in New York.

After all, it’s still the third leg of the Triple Crown. What’s more, it could be argued it’s the most exciting. As the Belmont Stakes is longer than the other two races, that adds an element of fun to the mix. Moreover, horses like Irish War Cry and Lookin’ At Lee got the chance to prove themselves on the big stage.

So how did things play out once the race was won? Take a look at the full race video highlights from the 2017 Belmont Stakes below:

Obviously having a repeat winner wasn’t in play for this race. However, that didn’t make the end result any less exciting when it came down to it. These are still wonderful moments in the sport of horse racing and it’s great to see another winner join Always Dreaming and Cloud Computing in 2017.
