Scott Dixon retains the Verizon IndyCar Series points lead despite crashing at Texas. Here are the IndyCar standings after the Rainguard Water Sealers 600.

Scott Dixon may have been wrecked out of the Rainguard Water Sealers 600, but that wasn’t enough for him to lose the Verizon IndyCar Series points lead. Dixon remains atop the IndyCar standings for a second consecutive weekend, even widening his lead from eight points to 13 points.

Helio Castroneves’ own crash saw him fall from second to fourth in the points, replaced by his teammate (and defending series champion Simon Pagenaud). Despite spinning out and taking Dixon with him, Takuma Sato held on to third place, while Texas race winner Will Power moved up from eighth to fifth with the victory.

Alexander Rossi was the first of 14 drivers who did not finish on Sunday, and that cost him two spots in the points as he’s now ninth. Rossi’s teammates Ryan Hunter-Reay and Marco Andretti swapped positions in the standings with another DNF for RHR.

Charlie Kimball’s pole position was only good enough to move him up one spot after engine trouble, while Conor Daly’s seventh place finish didn’t turn into a significant bump up either. He was 21st and now he’s 19th. But credit must be due to Dixon for staying on top of the IndyCar championship despite having been taken out by other drivers in two of the last four races.

Below are the updated Verizon IndyCar Series standings after Texas:
