Pokemon GO honors the solstice with its next in-game event.

As we get closer and closer to July, Pokemon GO gets closer and closer to celebrating its first anniversary.

Niantic Labs has announced its plans to host the game’s first real-world event in honor of its first birthday on July 22 in Chicago. But before that takes place, Pokemon GO is implementing one of their week-long in-game events to celebrate the changing of seasons in both the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.

To celebrate the coming of summer and winter, respectively, Pokemon GO will increase the spawn rate of both Fire and Ice-type Pokemon from June 13 to June 20.

“Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions,” the Pokemon GO official website proclaimed. “You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!”

XP bonuses will also be in play during the week, but not for everything like it usually is. Your XP will get a hefty boost while catching Pokemon if you are able to do it with Nice, Great or Excellent throws as well as on Curveballs and Pokemon you are able to capture on your first try. Hatching eggs will also get you some extra XP.

Similar to previous events, Lucky Eggs will be for purchase at a discounted rate at the in-game shop. Also similar to previous events, Egg Incubators will remain at full price and stubbornly scarce.

Have fun getting as close to Game of Thrones as you can in Pokemon GO, trainers. Let a Pokemon of ice and fire commence.
