1. There won’t be a lack of motivation in Golden State

The Warriors were motivated enough to chase 73 wins in their original title defense. The league-record win mark was set over months of tireless pursuit, and says a lot about the character of the organization. They notoriously lost to the Cavaliers in seven in the Finals, but felt like there was enough room to improve to go out and sign Kevin Durant. This franchise will be supremely motivated to become a rare dynasty in the 21st century next season.

It takes a lot of effort to become a champion. To go through years of hard work, have the right breaks, overcome all obstacles and climb to the highest mountaintop is validating of a lifetime of work. While most champions train just as hard for the chance to repeat, some aren’t as hungry for success after achieving that validation. Knowing everything that we know about the Warriors, they won’t become complacent champions.

Draymond Green has always played with a major chip on his shoulder, and he will continue to play that was as long as there are critics to keep driving him. Klay Thompson will be playing for a new deal next year. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will still be in the midst of their primes. The amount of success that this group has had makes them a target for some, and that will help fuel this group if they need the motivation next season. But with how the Warriors are wired, they shouldn’t need it.
