NBA Free Agency 2017: 5 potential destinations for Derrick Rose

2. Los Angeles Lakers

With Magic Johnson at the helm and Luke Walton coaching, the Lakers would be a great fit for a retooling Lakers. At a discount, the Lakers might love to have Rose show their young point guard, whoever that ends up being, the ropes and offer some scoring pop off the bench. Rose gets the opportunity to play under the lights and prove himself to make his next contract.

In this scenario, there is no way Rose wants more than a two-year contract, and it would not make sense to commit to Rose longer than one or two years. The Lakers would know that he is a rental to bridge the gap between inexperienced youth and the future. Rose has familiarity with Luol Deng, and that familiarity would be nice for Rose as he gets his legs back. Speaking of familiarity…
