The NHL has released the complete draft order for the 2017 NHL Draft.

The 2017 NHL Draft will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. It will be held the weekend of June 23 to 24. The draft lasts for seven rounds, with the first round on Friday and the last six rounds on Saturday.

Here’s a look at the complete draft order for the 2017 NHL Draft. The biggest difference in 2017 is that there are now 31 teams. For more than a decade, there were 30 picks in each round. That means there are 217 total picks made in the draft with the Vegas Golden Knights now in the league.

The first round will look like this.

  1. New Jersey Devils
  2. Philadelphia Flyers
  3. Dallas Stars
  4. Colorado Avalanche
  5. Vancouver Canucks
  6. Golden Knights
  7. Arizona Coyotes
  8. Buffalo Sabres
  9. Detroit Red Wings
  10. Florida Panthers
  11. Los Angeles Kings
  12. Carolina Hurricanes
  13. Winnipeg Jets
  14. Tampa Bay Lightning
  15. New York Islanders
  16. Calgary Flames
  17. Toronto Maple Leafs
  18. Boston Bruins
  19. San Jose Sharks
  20. St. Louis Blues
  21. New York Rangers
  22. Edmonton Oilers
  23. Coyotes (from Minnesota Wild)
  24. Columbus Blue Jackets
  25. Montreal Canadiens
  26. Chicago Blackhawks
  27. Blues (from Washington Capitals)
  28. Ottawa Senators
  29. Stars (from Anaheim Ducks)
  30. Nashville Predators
  31. Pittsburgh Penguins

This could change very quickly, as the Golden Knights will take on first round picks to pick bad contracts in the upcoming expansion draft. Most notably, the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets would make sense. Another reason the draft order could change is Vegas might take draft picks in exchange for not selecting certain players.

Despite it lacking the elite talent of the 2015 NHL Draft and 2016 NHL Draft, the 2017 draft should be a very good one. Perhaps not as deep as the past two years, but then again, those two drafts spoiled fans. Nolan Patrick is expected to be the first overall pick.
