Rickie Fowler will look to build on his lead at the 2017 US Open Championship when the second round begins on Friday.

Rickie Fowler is off to the best possible start he could hope for at the US Open. After a record-tying 65 on Thursday, Fowler has shown that he is going to make a serious run at taking a lead into the weekend.

The course has proven to be one he is comfortable on thus far and he will have all the focus on him heading into Friday’s second round. Despite the huge day out on the course, Fowler has no room to breathe at all.

Paul Casey and Xander Schauffele are tied right behind him at 66 and put together impressive displays of their own. Last year’s winner, Dustin Johnson, is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Johnson shot a 75 on the afternoon and is really going to have to figure out the course and get a better feel for it on Friday. Perhaps it’s the nerves of trying to defend the title, but Johnson hasn’t found his groove yet.

Jordan Spieth didn’t do much better on the day, but he fared better than Johnson. He has put himself in a position to cut into the lead on Friday. The action begins bright and early again on FS1 and will shift to FOX at night.
